Norwich – Shopping

With a back drop of 32 medieval churches, 2 cathedrals and a Norman castle, shopping in Norwich is a rather unique experience. High street stores, designer brands, independent shops and quirky goods are all on offer in the city which is listed as one of the top 10 places to shop in the UK. Outside of London’s Oxford Street, Norwich is the only place in the UK to have 4 national department stores as well as a local independent department store, Jarrold, within its city centre.

Two shopping centres, independent retailers located in the historic Norwich Lanes, Elm Hill and Timberhill plus contemporary architecture and history. Norwich satisfies even the most sophisticated shopper so whatever your style, taste or pocket you will have great fun discovering the mix this exciting city has to offer.

Norwich – The Norwich 12

For most of the medieval period up until the industrial revolution, Norwich was England’s second city. Remarkably, the city’s heritage has not been destroyed over time, allowing it to become one of the great heritage cities of Europe. The Norwich 12 project seeks to connect a group of 12 iconic city buildings and promote them as a significant collective destination.

Holt

Holt is a lovely rural Georgian North Norfolk town with plenty of unusual shops and surrounded by well-wooded parks. Having been burnt down in 1708, Holt presents a comparatively modern appearance, with a spacious market place, dominated by a fine cross of Clipsham stone to commemorate the war dead. A jumble of streets and alleyways fanout from the main High Street, offering plenty of facilities including pubs, cafes, galleries, and shops to enjoy. There is a lovely country park just to the south of Holt and the North Norfolk Railway (the poppy line) runs from Holt station to Sheringham.

Cromer

Cromer is famous for its crabs, which are fantastic, but there is so much more to the town than that. With fantastic beaches, pier, lifeboat station and spectacular cliffs, Cromer is well worth a stop-off along your way.
